Web Beacons Showing Success at Railway Stations in India
Google and RailTel have been using Beacons at railway stations across India, visitors at the stations were pushed silent notifications about the free WiFi. The campaign achieved 15% click-through rate of 1 million notifications sent, which is very high compared to click-through rates for online advertising.
The campaign shows that businesses in various industries, not just retail, can benefit from using beacon technology. It also shows that beacon projects can be scaled up for large projects, with this one, in particular, comprising of 2000 beacons.
