Southport Pleasureland - RFID Payment Solution
Good With Devices worked with Southport Pleasureland to design, build and deploy a payment system based on RFID cards and self-service kiosks for use by the 200,000 patrons that visit the popular amusement park each year.
The attraction was experiencing significantly busy periods based on factors that were difficult to plan for such as the weather. Rather than employing more staff than were required to cover busy periods, Southport decided to commission self-service kiosks to provide additional support for busy times and offer easier access for customers to buy park credit.
A combination of UK-based RFID consultants, international hardware manufacturers both off-the-shelf and bespoke as well as GWD's in-house software team came together to deliver the project in the narrow three-month window before the go-live date.
GWD provided a flexible, on-brand solution that fitted seamlessly into the park's existing workflow; comprising of touch-screen cashier PCs, touch-screen android tablets for park operators and touch-screen self-service payment kiosks. The new RFID powered payment system facilitated many millions of pounds worth of ride and attraction payments in its first season of operation.
The self-service kiosks also proved popular with park visitors and staff; as a result of this success, the park will increase their number of self-service kiosks substantially.
“The kiosks have been a big success this season and my ultimate aim is to replace some of the manned cashier points with GWD self-service kiosks.”

“The public seem to find them easy to use and they really help to reduce the queues during busy periods.”
